PLR4045 & PSRV2.8-2LC

In February, we added two steering diode / transient voltage suppressor arrays that provide circuit protection for a wide variety of applications such as, telecommunications interfaces, computing interfaces, video cards, and more. One of the new devices can also be used to guard against electromagnetic interference / radio frequency interference. The PLR4045 steering diode / TVS array provides ultra-low capacitance of 1.6pF (typical) while delivering circuit protection for critical applications. These applications include 2.5GBASE-T, T1/E1 and T3/E3 chip-side protection, DVI interfaces and USB 2.0 interfaces. It is rated at 600 watts peak pulse power (8/20 micro seconds waveform). It is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT); and 61000-4-5 (surge). At higher operating frequencies, or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern. This device, in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS / filter network, can be used for EMI / RFI protection. ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts. The PLR4045 also offers unidirectional configuration, a low clamping voltage of 20V (max.) at IPPM = 30A and protects four I/O ports and a power supply. The PSRV2.8-2LC is an addition to the PSRV-2LC series of low-capacitance (1pF typical) steering diode / TVS arrays. It offers a 2.8 rated standoff voltage. The component is ideal for circuit protection in ethernet – 10/100/1000 Base T, USB, handheld electronics, video cards, WAN/LAN and similar equipment. This series is designed to protect two line pair or four data / transmission lines from the effects of ESD and EFT. The series is ideal for low voltage circuit applications and the low capacitance of the steering diode allows the designer to protect high speed data applications.  This device is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air: ±15kV, contact: ±8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; and 61000-4-5 (surge): 24A, 8/20 micro seconds, level 2(LineGnd) and level 3 (Line-Line). It features 300 watts peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 micro seconds). It provides two lines of protection and low leakage current of < 1.0 microampere. Other rated standoff voltages in the series include 3.3 and 5. The leakage current for the 3.3V device is less than 1.0 microampere. Both new parts are RoHS and REACH compliant. Both devices are now available. The PLR4045 is provided in a molded JEDEC MSOP-10 package and has an approximate weight of only 24 milligrams. The PSRV2.8-2LC is offered in a molded DFN-6 package and has an approximate weight of just 9 milligrams. Read more.

PLR2504

In March, we introduced a new ultra-low capacitance (4pF) steering diode / TVS array for circuit protection in various networking applications. Networking application coverage includes Gigabit Ethernet, T1/E1 and T3/E3 (chip-side), and wireless communications. The new device is also suited for USB and DVI interfaces. This steering diode / TVS array, the PLR2504, provides unidirectional configuration and is rated at 300 watts peak pulse current (8/20 micro seconds wave shape). ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts and the component also provides a very low clamping voltage (VC max 12V @ 25A, 8/20 micro seconds). It protects four I/O ports and a power supply. The PLR2504 is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (surge).  And, it is RoHS and REACH compliant. Also, at higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern. This device, in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS / filter network, can be used for EMI / RFI protection in this scenario. The PLR2504 is now available and is provided in a molded JEDEC DFN-10 package with an approximate weight of only seven milligrams. Read more.

GBLCxxCIDFN Series

Also in March, we introduced a new series of ultra-low capacitance (0.6pF typical) TVS arrays for overvoltage circuit protection in smartphones and other portable electronics. The new series is also suited for Ethernet, USB interface and wireless systems. The GBLCxxCIDFN series of TVS arrays are available in a bidirectional configuration. They are rated at 250 watts peak pulse power per line for an 8/20 micro second waveshape. It is available in multiple voltages. It protects one power or I/O port. ESD protection is > 25kV and the series also offers a low clamping voltage. The new TVS arrays are compatible with IEC requirements for 61000-4-2 (ESD): air – 15kV, contact – 8kV. For this requirement, it exceeds level 4: handles 10kV contact and 25kV air discharge. The GBLCxxCIDFN series is also compatible with IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns. The new components are ideal to use as replacements for MLV (0805) devices. In addition, the series is RoHS and REACH compliant. Operating and storage temperatures range from -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. The patent-pending GBLCxxCIDFN series is now available and is provided in a molded JEDEC DFN-2 package with an approximate weight of only 0.8 milligrams. Read more.

PLR0504PLCN & PLR3304PLCN

In April, we introduced two new steering diode / TVS arrays for electrical circuit protection in various computing interfaces, such as Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and USB. The two new parts, in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS / filter network, can also be used for electromagnetic / radio frequency interference protection. The new components are the PLR0504PLCN, with a 5.0 volt rated standoff voltage, and the PLR3304PLCN, with a 3.3 volt rated standoff voltage. Other suitable applications include DVI interfaces, high-speed data line ESD protection, FireWire, SATA and PCIe interfaces, and IEEE 1394 to 3.2Gbps. The new TVS arrays provide ultra-low capacitance of 1.5pF max (I/O to GND) and 1.37pF typical for 0Vdc. They are rated at 250 Watts peak pulse power per line for an 8/20 micro second waveshape.  Both components meet or exceed IEC standards requirements for 61000-4-2 (ESD), 61000-4-4 (EFT) and 61000-4-5 (surge). ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts and low-leakage current is < 0.5 microampere. They protect four lines and are also RoHS and REACH compliant. The parts also have a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. The PLR0504PLCN and PLR3304PLCN TVS arrays are now available and are provided in a molded DFN-10 package with an approximate weight of only seven milligrams. Read more.

PTB05-ULC

In June we introduced a new ultra-low-capacitance surge protection component for circuit protection in applications such as automotive infotainment systems, industrial cameras, Thunderbolt and more. The very low capacitance for the new PTB05-ULC is 0.15pF max (I/O to GND). Other applications include V-by-One HS, HDMI 2.0, and LVDS. The PTB05-ULC is designed to protect high speed data lines – up to eight – from electrostatic discharges (ESD) and electrical over-stress (EOS).  It is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): contact ±15kV, air ±15kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (surge): 7A – 8/20 micro seconds. It boasts a PCB single-connect and flow-through design. It also leverages solid-state silicon-avalanche technology. In addition, the PTB05-ULC is RoHS and REACH compliant. The PTB05-ULC surge protector is now available and is provided in a molded DFN-18 package. Read more.

PAM3CAN Circuit Protection Diode

In July, we introduced a new circuit protection diode suited for automotive applications, such as Controller Area Network (CAN) bus lines. The new PAM3CAN diode is qualified by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC). The PAM3CAN is designed to protect two automotive CAN bus lines from the damaging effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and other electrical fast transients (EFT). In addition to being AEC-qualified, the new ESD diode is compatible with several IEC standards. These include 61000-4-2 (ESD): level 4; 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (surge): 2.1A, 8/20 micro seconds. The diode offers 150 watts of peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 micro seconds). ESD protection is 15 kilovolts. The rated stand-off voltage is 24V. Read more.

PLR0521U TVS Array

In August, we introduced an ultra-low-capacitance transient voltage suppressor array (TVS array) for circuit protection in popular data interface connections such as Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, USB 2.0 and 3.0, and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. The very low capacitance for the new PLR0521U TVS array is 0.8 pF max (typical). The PLR0521U protects these interfaces from the damaging effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). It meets or exceeds several IEC standards. The standards are 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT); and 61000-4-5 (surge): 4A, 80W, 8/20 micro seconds.  The TVS array also boasts a low clamping voltage and protects one unidirectional line. Peak pulse power is 80 watts (typical at 8/20 micro seconds). The rated standoff voltage is 5.0. It is also RoHS and REACH compliant. Read more.

PDFN3-32 TVS Diode Array

In September, we introduced a TVS diode array designed for circuit protection of proximity sensors in automated factory sensory applications. The new device features a double diode array for switch protection and reverse blocking protection. The PDFN3-32 is designed to protect 24-volt proximity sensors. It is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; and 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and 61000-4-5 (surge): 40A, 8/20 micro seconds; and for interface with logic input types 1, 2, 3 and IEC 61131-2. This transient voltage suppressor diode array’s minimum breakdown voltage (VBR) is 34V and maximum clamping voltage is 55V at 25A, 8/20 micro seconds. The blocking diode drop forward voltage (VF) is 1.1V at 300mA and the blocking diode maximum 10ms square pulse current (IFSM) is 3A. The ambient operating temperature is -40 degrees Celsius to 100 degrees Celsius. The PDFN3-32 is also RoHS and REACH compliant. Read more.

PESD3V3 Circuit Protection Diode

In October, we introduced a double electrostatic discharge circuit protection diode suited for networking applications such as Ethernet, smartphones and cellular phones, audio/video inputs, and more. It provides 25A SSC at 8/20 micro seconds, which is far better than industry average for protecting data lines. The PESD3V3 is designed to protect communications application from the effects of spurious surges. It is compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±30kV, contact ±30kV, 61000-4-4 (EFT), and 61000-4-5 (surge): 25A. It provides 400 watts peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 micro seconds). The PESD3V3 protects two unidirectional lines or one bidirectional line. In addition, it offers low leakage current of < 2.0 microampere and low capacitance. The rated standoff voltage is 3.3 volts. Operating and storage temperatures ranges from -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. The new diode is RoHS and REACH compliant. Read more.

PAM1IVN27 and PAM2IVN24 Automotive Circuit Protection Devices

And last but not least, in December we introduced two automotive circuit protection devices that are AEC-Q101 qualified to guard against electrostatic discharge and electrical fast transients in critical automotive systems. The PAM1IVN27 and PAM2IVN24 devices are ideal for CANBus, LINBus, FlexRay, and SENT in-vehicle sub-systems. Both new devices are also compatible with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±30kV, contact ±30kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT); and with 61000-4-5 (surge): 5A. The circuit protection components also provide bidirectional configuration, a low clamping voltage, and ultra-low leakage current of 0.8nA at 27 degrees Celsius (typical).
