ProTek Devices has provided technical documentation for the company’s new PESD2CAN circuit protection diode and new PESD1LIN transient voltage suppressor array (TVS array). New data sheets are available for both components.
The PESD2CAN, which debuted in Nov. 2014, is designed to provide circuit protection in controller area network (CAN) bus lines and other industrial applications, such as DeviceNet bus lines. This includes protection from the damaging effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and other transients.
The diode is compatible with IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD): air 15kV, contact 8kV; with IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and with IEC 61000-4-5 (surge): 4A, 8/20 micro seconds. It provides 200 watts peak pulse power per line (tp = 8/20 micro seconds) and protects up to two lines. ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts. The PESD2CAN features a low clamping voltage, low capacitance, and low leakage current. It is also RoHS and REACH compliant. Operating and storage temperatures are -55 to 150 degrees Celsius.
The PESD2CAN is provided in a molded JEDEC SOT-23 package with an approximate weight of only 8 milligrams. Other key mechanical characteristics include lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature (pure-tin – Sn, 100) of 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. The flammability rating is UL 94V-0. Finally, the PESD2CAN can be had in 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. Get the data sheet here.
The PESD1LIN debuted in December 2014 and is an asymmetrical line circuit protection TVS array, designed for local interconnect network (LIN) bus applications that includes automotive. This device is available in a bidirectional configuration and is rated at 200 watts peak pulse power for an 8/20 micro seconds waveshape.
This TVS Array provides IEC compatibility with standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air – 15kV, contact – 8kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; with 61000-4-5 (surge): 24A, 8/20μs – level 2 (line-gnd) and level 3 (line-line). It is an ideal replacement for multilayer varistors (MLV ). The PESD1LIN protects one power or I/O port and boasts a low clamping voltage. Asymmetrical line protection is pin 1 to 2 – 15V, pin 2 to 1 – 24V. The device is RoHS and REACH compliant. Operating and storage temperatures are -55 to 150 degrees Celsius.
The PESD1LIN is housed in a molded JEDEC SOD-323 package that has an approximate weight of only 5 milligrams. It has lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and the solder reflow temperature is (pure-tin – Sn, 100) 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. The flammability rating is UL 94V-0. This part can be had in 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. The data sheet can be found here.
