ProTek Devices has updated data sheets for its 5.0SMDJ 6.0CA – 5.0SMDJ90A series of TVS components and for its PLR0524 steering diode / TVS array.
5.0SMDJ 6.0CA – 5.0SMDJ90A
The 5.0SMDJ 6.0CA – 5.0SMDJ90A series consists of 5,000 watt (peak pulse power per Line [tp = 10/1000μs]) transient voltage suppressor (TVS) components. They are designed for overvoltage circuit protection in power supply, AC / DC and telecommunications applications.
The series boasts compatibility with several IEC standards: 61000-4-2 (electrostatic discharge [ESD]); 61000-4-4 (electrical fast transients [EFT]); and 61000-4-5 (surge). These glass passivated chips also provide 28,000 watts peak pulse power per line (tp = 8/20μs). They provide low leakage current and unidirectional and bidirectional configurations. The 5.0SMDJ 6.0CA – 5.0SMDJ90A series also delivers excellent clamping capabilities and a very fast response time. The series consists of six TVS components with reverse stand-off voltages ranging from 6.0 to 90.0 volts. It is also RoHS and REACH compliant.
Key mechanical characteristics also include a molded JEDEC DO-214AB package with an approximate weight of just 0.248 grams. It also has lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature of (pure-tin – Sn, 100) 260-270 degrees Celsius. The terminal is solderable, per MIL-STD-750, method 2026. In addition, the series has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. It is provided in 16mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. The full updated data sheet can be had here.
The PLR0524 is an ultra-low capacitance steering diode / TVS array. This device is designed to protect many computing applications. These applications include: Gigabit Ethernet; DVI and HDMI interfaces; USB (1.0-3.0) interfaces; FireWire, SATA and PCIe interfaces; IEEE 1394 to 3.2 Gbps; telecommunications equipment; and more. This device meets the IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD): Air – 15kV, contact – 8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; and 61000-4-5 (lightning): 6A – 8/20μs. At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern and the PLR0524 address this. This device, in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS / filter network, can be used for EMI/RFI protection.
The PLR0524 protects four lines and ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts. The device has an ultra-low clamping voltage of 9V @6A and low leakage current is < 0.5μA. The ultra-low capacitance is 0.6pF typical (I/O to GND). It is also RoHS and REACH compliant.
