ProTek Devices has an updated data sheet for the SMBJ5.0A and SMBJ33CA transient voltage suppressor (TVS) components. These parts provide ideal circuit protection for devices that include power supplies, AC/DC applications, and telecommunications equipment.
The parts deliver IEC compatibility for 61000-4-2 (ESD); 61000-4-4 (EFT) and 61000-4-5 (Surge). They are glass passivated chips and deliver 600 watts peak pulse power per line (tp = 10/1000μs). They also offer low leakage current and bidirectional and unidirectional configurations. In addition, they provide excellent clamping capability and a very fast response time. The parts are RoHS and REACH compliant.
The SMBJ5.0A and SMBJ33CA TVS components have an operating and storage temperature of -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. Power dissipation on an infinite heatsink is 5.0 watts and peak forward surge current, 8.3ms single half sinewave (unidirectional only) is 100 amps. Also, maximum instantaneous forward voltage at 50A (unidirectional only) is 3.5/5.0 V.
The SMBJ5.0A, with a device marking of “KE,” is offered in 5.0 volts. The SMBJ10A, with a device marking of “KX,” is offered in 10.0 volts while the SMBJ33CA, with a device marking of “CM,” is 33.0 volts.
The components are provided in a molded JEDEC DO-214AA package. They have an approximate weight of just 0.103 grams. They also provide lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed). The solder reflow temperature is (pure-tin – Sn, 100) 260-270 degrees Celsius. The terminal is solderable per MIL-STD-750, method 2026. These TVS components have a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.
