ProTek Devices has updated its data sheet for the RSB6.8S, a low capacitance, transient voltage suppressor (TVS) designed for circuit protection across numerous applications. Such applications include noise suppression for data/audio lines; smartphones; digital cameras; laptops; other wireless telecommunications and portable electronics devices; and PCMCIA cards.
The RSB6.8S is available in a bidirectional configuration with a working voltage of 4.7V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 5.7V. The RSB6.8S is rated at 10W peak pulse power (10/1000μs). This is sufficient protection for electrostatic discharge (ESD) threats at key interface locations. It is also ideally suited to protect 5V DC lines and data I/O ports against ESD and electrical fast transients (EFT). This device meets the requirements of 61000-4-2 (ESD): Air – 15kV, Contact – 8kV and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns. Packaged in a SC-79 configuration, this device can be substituted for similar 0803 outlines. The RSB6.8S also offers a low clamping voltage and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
It offers power dissipation of 150mW. The RSB6.8S has an operating and storage temperature of -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. Key mechanical characteristics include a molded JEDEC SC-79 package with an approximate weight of just 2 milligrams. It has a lead-free, pure-tin plating (annealed) and solder reflow temperature of (pure-tin – Sn, 100) 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. It also has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. The RSB6.8S is offered in 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. The full data sheet can be had here.
