ProTek Devices introduces the USB0508 Series, an ultra low capacitance TVS array. Available in a bidirectional or unidirectional configuration, the 3 pF, 500 Watt (8x20µs) series of devices are ideally suited for transient protection of high frequency data lines and signal interfaces. Typical applications include data communication interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, USB, RS-485, FireWire and SCSI.
Designed to protect against the transient environments of IEC 61000-4-2(ESD) and 61000-4-4(EFT), all devices are tested up to 25 kilovolts ESD contact discharge. At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern. The USB0508 series has a 3pF capacitance per I/O measured to ground. This series in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS/filter network can be used for EMI/RFI protection. Packaged in the SOIC-8 plastic case, this device should be placed near a connector or a sensitive IC component.
SPICE model and parameters are available for circuit simulations. It is important to determine signal integrity and insertion loss for the fast edge rate digital signals using the SPICE parameters.
