Ultra Low Capacitance Steering Diode Array in DFN-10 Package

Tempe, Ariz., February 21, 2008 - ProTek Devices introduces the PLR0508 to the PLR family.  This steering diode TVS array supports 8 lines of protection and has an ultra-low capacitance of 1.5pF (typical).  The device is designed to protect high speed (high data rate, clock) serial interface applications, which require very low capacitance loading.  The embedded TVS functions to protect the VCC bus, the steering diodes steer the ESD event to either VCC or Gnd.  Other applications include PCIx Ports, USB2.0 Ports, IEEE-1394 Serial ATA, DVI/HDMI ports, digital recorders, DVD-RV drives and test and communication equipment.  The PLR0508 is available in a lead-free DFN-10 package (3mm x 3mm).

The PLR0508 is ideally suited to protect multiple datalines (8) lines of I/O ports against ESD and EFT.  This device meets the requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) and 61000-4-4 (EFT).  At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern.  This device in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS/filter network can be used for EMI/RFI protection.  The PLR0508 should be placed near a connector or a sensitive IC component.

Sample quantities are available upon request.  Pricing is $0.45 each in quantities of 3,000 pieces.  SPICE model and parameters are available for circuit simulation on request.  The PLR0508 is lead-free and ROHS compliant.
