Unidirectional TVS in a SC-79 Package

Tempe, Ariz., February 14, 2008 - ProTek Devices introduces the PLW1201H transient voltage suppressor array (an addition to the PLWxx01H Series).  This device is designed to protect applications such as wireless telecommunication devices (cellular phones and accessories), peripheral devices, portable electronics and digital cameras.  The PLW1201H is available in a unidirectional configuration with a working voltage of 12.0V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 13.3V.  This device is rated for 200W peak pulse power using the 8/20µs surge waveform, which is sufficient protection for tertiary type lightning threats at key interface locations.  The PLW1201H offers one line of unidirectional protection.

The PLW1201H is ideally suited to protect 12VDC lines and data I/O ports against ESD and EFT.  This device meets the requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) and 61000-4-4 (EFT).  At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern.  This device in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS/filter network can be used for EMI/RFI protection.

Packaged in the standard SC-79 plastic case, this device can be substituted for similar 0402 outline configurations.  The PLW1201H should be placed near a connector or a sensitive IC component.

Sample quantities are available upon request.  Pricing is $0.27 each in quantities of 3,000 pieces.  SPICE model and parameters are available for circuit simulation on request.  The PLW1201H is lead-free and ROHS compliant.

Application

A typical application showing two of the PLW1201H TVS diodes placed on the output of the power regulator to protect from switching transients as well as EFT that may exist on the Vcc BUS.
